RADIESSE® is a dermal fillers that are used for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, correcting volume loss on face as well as volume loss in the back of the hands.
RADIESSE® is a filler composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel (CaHA/CMC). When this dermal filler is injected, the microspheres act as a framework for your body to trigger collagen production to smooth the appearance of chin wrinkles, marionette lines, pre-jowl folds and smile lines. Unlike HA fillers that volumize and then breakdown, RADIESSE® will give you the same volume boosting effect, but after it’s gone, leave you with some increased collagen in its place! Although it is most often used on the face, this injectable treatment may also be used on the hands by increasing volume to targeted area to minimize signs of aging on the backs of hands.
Through the activation of fibroblasts, new collagen production begins within 4 weeks after injection and can be sustained for 12 months, with an average production lasting 12-18 months, and even up to 24 months.
Radiesse stimulates angiogenesis, which is the process of creating new blood vessels, which are crucial for the skin’s repair process.
Calcium hydroxyapathide (CaHA), the main component of Radiesse®, causes a process called the Extracellular Matrix (ECM), which acts as a 3D matrix under the dermis, stimulating the production of new Type I and Type III collagen to replace the old collagen that has deteriorated.
RADIESSE® is a very safe and effective dermal filler. It has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Union for CE Certification ICE, and Department of Health in Hong Kong. It is in fact the only dermal filler approved by the US FDA for use on both face and hands. RADIESSE® can be used in the following areas to address the nagging signs of volume loss that come with aging:
