The Cause of Rosacea and Its Care

The cause of Rosacea is not yet identified, but it is believed to be an abnormal dilation of blood vessels on the face, leading to blushing and hotness. Rosacea can be triggered by exposure to hot temperatures, sunlight, emotional stress, hot beverages, alcohol, spicy food and certain skin care products. To treat Rosacea it is important to avoid the possible trigger factors that make the skin flush and choose some mild skin products with sun protection to help improve facial redness.

Here are some care tips and suggestions:

  • Gentle cleansing: Use gentle cleansing products and avoid cleansers with harsh ingredients. Massage the skin gently and rinse off with lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the skin too hard as this can aggravate inflammation.
  • Avoid irritation: Avoid alcohol and harsh skin care products. Minimise rubbing and squeezing of the face to avoid skin irritation.
  • Protect yourself from the sun: UV exposure may aggravate symptoms, so use a broad-brimmed hat and sunscreen when out in the sun.
  • Careful diet: Diet may be related to rosacea, so it is important to pay attention to diet. Reduce the intake of spicy and irritating foods, alcohol and hot drinks, and increase the intake of fresh fruits, vegetables and foods rich in antioxidants.
  • Emotional control: When people are under emotional stress, the body releases stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones have an impact on the body’s physiological processes and can lead to the exacerbation of skin problems, including rosacea.
  • Professional treatment: If self-care methods are not effective in controlling rosacea, it is advisable to seek medical help. Your doctor will be able to provide a more appropriate treatment plan based on your condition and symptoms.
