Eyeshape & Eyelids

People of Asian ancestry have dark eyes and usually lack a crease or having an uneven eyelid crease on their top eyelid. They may also have puffy eyes, drooping eyelids or a small web of skin over the corners of their eyes, called epicanthic folds, leading to the apperance of having small eyes.

Single eyelid—the Asian eyelids typically do not have a crease or the crease starts very close to the eyelashes.

Uneven eyelid Crease—the position of one side of the eyelid fold perched higher than the other one. Or the appearance of multiple folds or incomplete folds. It’s annoying to take extra time to do your makeup differently on each eye and make them look even.

Puffy Upper Eyelids—Puffy and heavy upper eyelids are often hereditary and is caused by excess fat or excess eyelid skin.

Small Eyes—East Asians are so often described with small eyes as they simply have a patch of extra skin (called an epithelial fold) above their eyes, or having short and rounded palpebral fissures (there are fewer millimeters between the inners and outer comers of the eye than normal), resulting in abnormally small and wide-set eyes.

Drooping eyelids—The eyelids are especially susceptible to aging as the skin is very thin and delicate. With the passage of time, the skin on the eyes loses its firmess and eventually become wrinkled and hooded as a result causes sagging of the eyes due to aging. Loosening of the forehead and eyebrow region structures may cause futher drooping eyebrows and eyelid hooding. Drooping or hooded eyelids generally means eyelids that have no distinct shape and are partly covered by skin when the eyes are open. Drooping eyelids are common and can give you a constant tired appearance and make you look older.
