Fractional skin resurfacing is an advanced skin treatment technology that effectively improves the appearance and texture of the skin. This treatment approach is suitable for a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, and enlarged pores.
The technique involves creating microscopic zones of thermal injury on the skin’s surface, which stimulates the rebuilding of collagen and the regeneration of skin cells. This process triggers the skin’s natural healing and repair mechanisms, leading to improved skin elasticity, radiance, and smoothness.
MOSAIC II is a FDA-approved advanced aesthetic solution, based on the latest in micro-fractional technology. This technology delivers multiple microscopic lasers (50-70 micrometer) to the skin in a “spray paint” fashion simultaneously, rather than just one laser at a time. These fractional laser beams act deep down in the dermal layer of skin, destroying abnormal tissue and stimulates a healing process that involves new growth of collagen and elastin tissue in the skin.
The Mosaic® fractional laser beams penetrate the skin’s surface and creates tiny microscopic wounds to eliminate abnormal tissue in the skin, known as microthermal treatment zones (MTZs). The laser targets and treats only the damaged area within the zone, while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. Skin renewal is stimulated via the rapid wound repair within 24 hours and remodelling response initiated by the surrounding normal tissues, that involves new growth of collagen and elastin tissue in the skin. This “fractional” treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once, creating new, healthy tissue to replace skin imperfections.
Mosaic II utilizes the patented Controlled Chaos Technology (CCT). This technology delivers multiple arrays of randomized microscopic laser beams to the skin which enables more natural and uniform treatment, prevents damage from thermal stacking thus less treatment complications compared with other fractional laser machines.
Each Mosaic fractional laser treatment session targets and disrupts approximately 15-20% of the skin’s tissue density. The treatments are typically scheduled 4-6 weeks apart, with the number of sessions depending on the individual’s skin condition and response to the treatment.
For more severe skin concerns, such as advanced scarring, the number of required treatments may increase. The intensity of the treatment is gradually escalated with each session, based on the skin’s response and condition, leading to increasingly significant results.
It’s important to note that the process of stimulating collagen production is a continuous and gradual one. Therefore, the immediate effects observed after a session may not represent the final outcome, and improvements may continue to be seen 6-8 months post-treatment.
